When I was about 13, my best friend (L) and I began collecting kites.  We bought this kite, Agatha, in Provincetown, MA during a vacation with my family.  We flew her together for several years and when our lives went separate ways, we sent her back and forth (often in a pizza box), continuing to share her.

Not long ago, L, who has had Agatha for a very long time now, sent her to me, with a lovely letter for BB.  She tells her the story of Agatha and of our young friendship.  She tells BB to enjoy Agatha with me… and in a few years to return her, so she can enjoy her with her daughter who is about 18-months-old, and also adopted.  I would love to return Agatha in person and meet the wonderful child and family.  We plan to take Agatha to the beach this year and give her a good fly, but I can see she needs a few repairs before then.  She’s had a full and sometimes rough life, our Agatha.   She’s fairly tattered and faded, having lived a full life (there was the summer she spent in a tree with a daring and possibly slightly immoral, uh illegal?… rescue.  Ah, the things we do for love.).  Let’s hope she continues her adventures into this next generation.
