Christmas #1 & 2

We had First Christmas on December 20 with the Hubs’ clan.  It was grand and glorious and loud.  Three kids are noisy.  Wait until Fourth Christmas – I think there are 25 kids now.  Anyway, it was great.  The Bing didn’t really catch onto the whole unwrapping gift thing, so we helped her along.  She was really more interested in other peoples’ gifts, but that’s how it is when you’re going on 22-months-old.  She is enjoying her gifts, especially a set of wooden bottles and jars of condiments, which she carries around and feeds us all from – really all of us, Mommy, Daddy, and the cats, who are quite baffled.  She also got a tricycle, but we haven’t found the time to put it together.  We will – it’s way-cool.  We also got a family membership to a children’s museum.  I wanted to take The Bing last Sunday, but the ER trip took precedence.  But we did make it this morning.  B-B was rather overwhelmed at first and I wasn’t sure we’d make it past the lobby.  The woman at the desk assured us it is a “self-directed tour,” so I figured the lobby for our first trip would be lovely, but finally we ventured forth.  BB took it all in, slowly, but steadily, and in the end there was screaming and grabbing mightily to car wheels (“mine!”) in an desperate attempt to stay.  Yes, I think it is a hit.

Second Christmas was on December 25 at our house with my family.  It was quieter and simpler.  It was lovely.  Why?  It’s the first time my dad’s been out of the nursing home since he went in last April.  That’s a long time.  He had a wonderful time and he got great gifts that I hope will make life for him better as long as he needs to be there – a DVD player, a subscription to Netflix, and a computer.  Yeah, baby!  I talked to him today and he sounded like his old self, curmudgeonly complaining that he was having computer trouble.  He’d keep at it awhile, but then he was going to take a nap.  Yay Dad!  Yes, this was the best Christmas present ever.  BB got some nice things, too.  And I got some nice things overall, in a more material sense.

Third Christmas is tomorrow and Fourth Christmas is in early January.  At least I think that will be it.  Here’s a few pictures from #1 & 2.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

  1. Lots of celebrations for you guys. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Its funny, as I read this post, my daughter is wearing the same top as Bing~Bing.

  2. Hey, where’s the shout out to Aunt A on the cool gifts? 🙂 I’m glad to hear that she enjoying those bottles & the museum pass. I thought those bottles would be cute for her given all the cooking the Hubs does.
