Visit

Hubs works with a man from China, whose parents have been visiting from their home in Henan since this summer.  We met them then for a fabulous, home cooked Chinese dinner and had a lovely time.  They speak little English and we speak little Chinese, so their son does the translating, but we had a wonderful time.  They are China-bound on January 1 and they wanted to meet Snowflake, so we invited them over this afternoon.

Oh, and the Ling Ling doll is effective with language acquisition for both Chinese and English.  It was fun to see the parents playing with it with Snowflake and trying to imitate the English.  It was tough!  Kind of like us with Chinese.  Those sounds just don’t come naturally.  I think Snowflake enjoys hearing Chinese.  Later this afternoon we put in a Muzzy DVD for the first time.  It’s one of the few DVDs we’ll allow for now.  She enjoyed it and I’m picking things up.

  1. I’m sure the language thing must be confusing for Snowflake but it certainly seems like she takes everything in stride! It would be great if she were able to continue to be bilingual throughout her life and it will be something to keep Cavatica and hubs busy too…….. it doesn’t seem like you guys have quite enough to do! LOL

  2. Warmed my heart to see Ling Ling being loved, and most importantly, used! I never did quite learn any Mandarin from pressing her hand the once a month or so I used to pass through the nursery- perhaps consistency is the key- hehe.

I also saw your Christmas message above- Mr P and I wish you and your family the happiest of Christmases! I’m sure that won’t be too hard with your little cutie!

  3. What an opportunity… sounds like everyone had a great time!!! Merry Xmas and a great New Year…
