Our weekend

I took only one picture all weekend, but it was lovely.  Saturday evening we had friends over for ribs.  The Husband smoked his famous ribs, which are always a surprise for newbies, as they are HUGE.  Each “bronto rib” weighs about a pound and is generally a meal, although people ususually like to eat a lot when they come for ribs.  Everything else was wonderful and we had a good time.  There were two little girls who have been getting to know each other more every visit.  They were having a great time running around and squealing.  We’re hoping the next time we have this group together that there will be four kids – one kid for each couple.  Yowza!

On Sunday I thought there would be nothing more wonderful than spending hours reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  The Husband is reading the Deathly Hallows.  We picked up lunch and went to a park, ate lunch, and read until we were too hot and thirsty to stay.  I took this picture of a king fisher on the way out (try to ignore the poop – I guess it’s a frequent perch).

In the evening, we visited my parents, aunt, and cousin at the retirement village.  The Cousin was visiting my aunt for a few days and we don’t see her that often and it was nice to catch up.  She offered us a place to stay if we fly out of the Washington area on our China trip.  We might take her up on that if we do and don’t want to come directly home with The Kidlet.  She has plenty of kid stuff, as she has two grandchildren she takes care of often.  She and Her Husband are going to China for a Yangzte River tour in October.  We all hoped we’d get there before them, but hopefully we’ll have seen her face and know her Chinese name at least.

  1. Being the “newbie” at the party, I can definitely attest to eating a piece of meat that looked like something directly from the Flintstones! But ooohhh, so yummy! We had a wonderful time on Saturday, as we always do.

Here’s to eating Korean BBQ in the Spring with 4 Little Ones!

  2. Sounds delicious!
