Nicky guards + vet story

Nicholas was carefully guarding his frog earlier.  It was so darn cute, I grabbed a picture.  Just then he got up to run off and I caught that too.

Yesterday I had him to the vet.  Two days ago, he started to squat to pee on our rug.  I’ve learned from two past experiences that this is a sign of a urinary tract infection and requires immediate treatment.  Twice before, I began thinking it was a weird behavioral thing, but the problem wasn’t resolved until he got antibiotics.  So, we caught the squat before the pee and off to the vet we go.  He had a urinalysis and there’s nothing major going on (there wasn’t the other two times either) and he started a ten day course of amoxicillin.  She said his diet is fine, including Aleca’s leftover pumpkin.  So far he hasn’t caught on to the pills coming and has been remarkably easy to give pills to.  That should last another day or two!  Here’s my boy at the vet.

Don’t let his calm demeanor fool you — he swore plenty at the vet tech and the vet.  Luckily, that’s all he does — no biting, no claws, but he does have a nasty vocabulary at the vet!

  1. But he looks so sweet lying there on the table! Glad to hear it’s nothing serious and that you caught it so quickly.
